Australian lending finance (Feb10) – commercial loans bouncing back

ABS released Australian Lending Finance data from February 2010 (find it here) showing that commercial finance has at last taken a turn for the better:

When you have articles like this “From too much debt to too much cash” (by Stephen Shore for the AFR), it’s a reasonable guess that we might see further strengthening in commercial lending volumes.

Similarly, but less helpfully perhaps, personal finance too has ticked higher:

And to put the whole lot in perspective, here is a chart of the 12 month moving average in total lending volume. Seems like we have plenty of room for releveraging at the commercial level if we are going to grab the haggis by the hubris.
