RBA commodity price index

Posted on 01 February 2010

The RBA commodity price index isn’t the end-game – it’s more of a stepping stone to our goal of building some useful indicators to gauge the expected performance of the materials sector.

We will take our lead from the weightings that the RBA includes in its index (as noted previously here) – but as should be expected the index itself has a softish relationship to the ASX200 materials index price performance. In time we will overlay volume and risk metrics to see whether a meaningful relationship can be deciphered.
